Pike Run Wildlife Area North - Muscatine County Conservation Board

Writer: Ben SmasherBen Smasher

This parking lot is technically down Jasper road off 170th, and if you walk straight south between the prairie, you will wind up on the berm that keeps the Cedar River at bay. From here you can follow the berm left or right, or if the water level is low enough, go down to the swampy bog area and explore down there. The only reliable trail really is the top of the berm but there isn't a lot of undergrowth here so its pretty easy to shoot off trail and explore quite a bit. The ponds to the west are beautiful and there are some less reliable trails down among the prairie and grass fields with the occasional tree stand (including a few catalpas), eventually you will wind up at a utility lot off of Iron City ave.

25 Miles Southueast of Iowa City
